Caratteristiche
– Resina scambiatrice di ioni attivata con tutti gli elementi nutritivi necessari
alla crescita delle piante in idrocoltura. Costituita da piccoli granelli, le sue
funzioni sono molteplici: fornisce lentamente gli elementi nutritivi, evitando repentini
sbalzi di salinità; elimina prontamente gli essudati radicali (sostanze di rifi
uto rilasciate dalle radici); conserva l’acqua pulita, evitando il proliferare
di microrganismi che causerebbero marciumi e fastidiose maleodorazioni; evita brusche
variazioni di acidità (potere tampone).
Dosi e modalità d’impiego –
Una busta per 1-2 litri d’acqua ogni 5-6 mesi. Non è necessario rimuovere
la resina esaurita.

Nella coltivazione idroponica le piante vengono allevate
in acqua e sostenute da un substrato “inerte” costituito da granuli
di argilla espansa (pag. 80) con la funzione di ancorare e proteggere le radici,
permettendo la circolazione dell’acqua e dell’aria.
Le radici delle
piante in coltura idroponica sono dotate di elevata funzionalità e mantengono nel
tempo un volume modesto, il che consente di utilizzare vasi di diametro ridotto
(25-30 cm) anche per soggetti di notevoli dimensioni. I vasi, spesso di plastica,
sono composti da un portavaso e da un idrovaso inserito al suo interno e provvisto
di un indicatore di livello. Per garantire la corretta ossigenazione delle radici
è molto importante aggiungere l’acqua fi no al livello massimo e, prima di
reintegrarla, attendere che l’indicatore sia sceso al livello minimo.
