Fagiolo da mangiare sia verde che con i semi grandi; non forma mai il filo neppure a maturazione avanzata.
La semina può essere fatta in due periodi diversi: a fine aprile-primi di maggio, oppure a luglio; nel primo caso, dato che il ciclo di maturazione minimo è di 60 giorni, la raccolta avviene a fine giugno-primi di luglio, nel secondo a settembre. La maturazione è scalare, pertanto la raccolta si protrae per un periodo di 40 giorni. La varietà è rampicante ed ha bisogno di sostegno; i fiori sono violetti. Necessita di terreni fertili e di irrigazione; le patologie più frequenti sono afidi, ragno rosso e peronospora.

Osservazioni sulla tradizionalità, la omogeneità della diffusione e la protrazione nel tempo delle regole produttive: I baccelli sono lunghi circa 10-15 cm e contengono 5-6 chicchi di colore nero a maturazione; la caratteristica di questo fagiolino da mangiare in erba è che a granigione avvenuta si mantiene tenero e non forma il filo. Viene preparato lessato e condito con olio oppure cotto col pomodoro.
